Happy Birthday Nona May
Husband pens his love
After one year of marriage
Proud to be your spouse
Partner in deepest spirit
Yesterday and tomorrow
After one year of marriage
Proud to be your spouse
Partner in deepest spirit
Yesterday and tomorrow
Blessings of a happy home
Irresponsible poet
Responsible Nona May
Turned it all around
Horizons unbound
Dancing through the galaxy
Astronomical glitter
Yearning to be creative

Responsible Nona May
Turned it all around
Horizons unbound
Dancing through the galaxy
Astronomical glitter
Yearning to be creative
Never giving up on you
On this very special day
Notions of passionate love
Anon and henceforth
On this very special day
Notions of passionate love
Anon and henceforth
Merrily we sing
Astral connectivity
You and me both bless'd

You and me both bless'd

He Pours River
Stream was always there,
So I dipped my tea kettle
Too much, poured some back
One who saw said, “look!
He pours river from kettle!”
Thus legends are made.
Ways not known to me
Appear beneath my Nikes
Synchronicity
What led me here now
I shall follow in future
Ways remain unknown
As temple bell rings
Flock of sparrows leaves its tree
Will they all return?
So I dipped my tea kettle
Too much, poured some back
One who saw said, “look!
He pours river from kettle!”
Thus legends are made.
Ways not known to me

Nameless Stranger
Patches on tatters
Holes through dusty shoes and hat
Walletless pockets
At the edge of town
Lawmen watching his approach
Might just have some fun
Did you hope to pass
Without giving up some gold
This here's a toll road
Empty palms up shrug
Silent universal sign
Mute baffled and broke
Show us some I D
Any kind of credential
Utility bill
A scrap of paper
Turned to lace at the creases
Kept under his hat
Like a stinking fish
The two deputies watch him
One grins other frowns
Hey wait a minute
Don't I know you from somewhere
Famous for something
Crowd gathered like clouds
Spatters of recognition
Fall on hunched shoulders
Whispered names thunder
Shower of accusations
Lightning in his eyes
Rogue preacher wizard
Winds of change at his command
Simply vanishes
A gasp from the mob
Read the paper that he left

Rensaku Barbecue
Written on paper
Translated to internet
These words meet eyeballs
Pond of Saint Basho
Frog leaps in ancient splash sound
Water writes ripples
Poet writing verse
Motioning to haiku muse
I have nothing
Distinct aroma
Someone cooking barbecue
Distracting poet
Neighbors family
Arriving from far away
Invading poem
Muse tweaks poet's nose
Neighbor kids politely knock
Come share food with us
Positive response
Starving artist needs to eat
I'll be right over
Poet can't resist
Laughter from neighboring yard
Gurgle in belly
Bring paper journal
Explain haiku to novice
Summer afternoon
Torn between two sides
Happy I can have them both
Corn on cob and beans
My muse must have been hungry
I stuff my face with burgers
Meta-Masters
Masters of silence
Let thunderbolts speak for us
We picked the right fight
This is how we do
Bad things without attention
The silent treatment

Hello Poetry
Answer other writers muse
In this online world
Myth becomes solid
Explained poorly long ago
This is how it works
Compete for prizes
Outsmart the other players
Nature of phrasing
Bring your old notebooks
Hunker down and write a bunch
Thoughts long forgotten

Gunsaku Galaxy
Collected haiku
unbound by shared cause effect
is called gunsaku
no particular
first next or last verse prevails
unlike rensaku
organic grouping
each intends to stand alone
like cards in a deck
each verse a star with
intelligence of word worlds
in their own orbits
take this description
as a general guideline
meta-gunsaku
individual
three-lined verse standing alone
one haiku poem
relativity
states each stands at the center
others surround it
galactic haiku
may seem first to be written
by being on top
fill water bucket
first drops are found on bottom
final drops on top
gunsaku like stars
shining in our galaxy
sharing gravity
